Nightclerk vs KeepMyBase
KeepMyBase writes a daily backup into your own Google Drive or S3-compatible bucket and can put deleted records back into Airtable. Nightclerk keeps the copy itself, never writes to your base, and tells you what changed.

The short answer
Pick KeepMyBase if you want backups written to your own Google Drive or S3-compatible bucket, attachment files up to 1 GB each, and a reviewed restore of deleted records and fields back into Airtable. Pick Nightclerk if you want a receipt saying what changed, alerts when records vanish, a longer history (1 to 3 years against 30 to 180 days), a free plan, and no write access at all. For 10 bases, KeepMyBase's plan is Growth at $59 a month plus storage; Nightclerk's is Keeper at $10.

Where KeepMyBase is the better choice
- You want restores done for you, carefully. KeepMyBase shows a table next to an earlier day, then puts back the deleted records you pick, with their links and files, or rolls back fields you tick. It rewrites a cell only if it still holds the value you reviewed, and saves the replaced value first. With us, you import our CSV into the table yourself.
- You want the files in storage you own. KeepMyBase writes to Google Drive or to S3, R2, Wasabi, B2 or Spaces, and the archives stay there if you cancel. We keep the copy ourselves.
- You have large attachments. KeepMyBase saves files up to 1 GB each, within a monthly allowance of 25 to 250 GB. Our total is 5 GB on Keeper and 25 GB on Vault, and single files over 250 MB are kept as names only.
- You may need to rebuild a whole base. KeepMyBase's free recovery tool checks the backup against its checksums, then writes import CSVs, link mappings and step-by-step instructions. Our downloads include a STRUCTURE.md to rebuild from, but no tool that does the preparation for you.
- You want a second copy. KeepMyBase Business keeps a second copy of each base.
Where Nightclerk is the better choice
- You don't want to go looking. With KeepMyBase you open a comparison when you suspect something. Our receipt names the records added, edited and deleted after every backup, and Keeper and Vault alert when 10 or more vanish at once. KeepMyBase emails when a backup run can't finish.
- Mistakes get noticed late. KeepMyBase keeps 30 to 180 days by plan. We keep 1 year on Keeper and 3 on Vault, searchable, including deleted records.
- You want no write access granted anywhere. KeepMyBase's restores need a second integration with write access. We have no restore integration and only ask for read scopes.
- You want to start free, or spend less. Free covers 1 base weekly. Keeper covers 10 bases daily for $10, with no separate storage bill.
Running both, or moving over
Nightclerk only reads, so it can run next to KeepMyBase on the same bases: KeepMyBase for copies in your own bucket and reviewed restores, Nightclerk for the receipt, alerts and a longer searchable history. KeepMyBase estimates about 1,900 Airtable API calls a month for a daily backup of a 10-table, 5,000-record base. By that estimate, KeepMyBase alone would pass a Free workspace's 1,000 calls for that base, and a second tool reading the same base adds its own calls on top.
KeepMyBase's archives stay in your storage after you cancel, which is useful because we can't import them: our history begins with your first Nightclerk backup. For putting rows back by hand, see restoring Airtable from a CSV and recovering deleted records, or run the free one-time export to see our copy first.
Questions
Does KeepMyBase restore into Airtable?
Yes. KeepMyBase compares a table with an earlier backup day, then brings back the deleted records you pick, with their values, links and files, or rolls back the fields you select. It says a restore never deletes records, tables or fields. Deleted tables and whole bases are rebuilt by hand from the backup files, using a free tool that runs on your computer and writes import-ready CSVs.
Does KeepMyBase need write access to Airtable?
Only to restore. KeepMyBase's archive guide says backups only read your base, and restores ask for write access through a separate integration called KeepMyBase Restore, which you can remove in Airtable. Nightclerk asks only for read scopes and has no restore integration.
Is there a free trial of KeepMyBase?
KeepMyBase's site lists no free plan or trial. It offers an example workspace with fictional data to try. Nightclerk has a Free plan for 1 base and a 14-day trial with 10 bases and no card.
Is there a cheaper alternative to KeepMyBase?
KeepMyBase starts at $29 a month for 5 bases, and Growth is $59 a month for 20, with storage billed separately by your provider. Nightclerk Keeper is $10 a month for 10 bases backed up daily, and Vault is $15 for 50, storage included. Nightclerk doesn't restore into Airtable or write to your own storage.
Does KeepMyBase back up comments?
No. KeepMyBase says comments and revision history aren't saved and stay in Airtable. Nightclerk doesn't copy comments yet either.
